FC Bayern Munich bolstered its frontcourt by inking big man Danilo Barthel to a two-year deal on Wednesday. Barthel (2.08 meters, 24 years old) arrives from Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt, where he averaged 9.6 points on 68.3% two-point shooting and 4.1 rebounds in 32 German League games last season. He helped Frankfurt win the FIBA Europe Cup title. Barthel started his career with USC Heidelberg, joining Frankfurt in 2011. He has also been a member of the German national team. "Bayern's basketball team has had some success in the German League and I think it has a successful future ahead of ir, so I did not think twice," Barthel said. "It is clear that we will not only play for the German championship. Personally, I want to establish myself in Munich and use my skills to help the team."
