Partizan signs playmaker Ratkovica
Partizan NIS Belgrade improved its roster for the upcoming season by inking playmaker Branislav Ratkovica to a one-year deal on Friday. Ratkovica (1.92 meters, 31 years old) arrives from Lukoil Academic Sofia, where he averaged 7.9 points and 5.1 assists in 32 Bulgarian League games last season, helping his team win the title. He started his career with Beopetrol Beograd and played the 2003-04 ULEB Cup with Atlas Banka Novi Beograd, averaging 2.8 points in 10 games. Ratkovica has also played for Mega Ishrana Beograd of Serbia, EWE Baskets Oldenburg, Artland Dragons Quakenbrueck and Walter Tigers Tuebingen of Germany, Olin Edirme and Aliaga Petkim of Turkey and Politekhnika Halychyna Lviv of Ukraine. He has also been a member of the Serbian and Montenegro U20 national team. "I am glad I came to Partizan, the club that I cheer for since my childhood," Ratkovica said. "Even when I have played abroad for 10 years, I always followed its games closely. I am glad to be back in Serbia to work for Coach Dzikic, who I played for in Atlas."
