FC Bayern Munich bolstered its frontline with center Maik Zirbes, who arrives on loan from Turkish Airlines EuroLeague side Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv. Zirbes (2.08 meters, 26 years old), who hails from Germany, averaged 8.1 points and 3 rebounds over 15 EuroLeague games for Maccabi this season. He will play in his native country for the first time since the 2013-14 season with Brose Bamberg. After that he spent two seasons with Crvena Zvezda Belgrade, which he helped to consecutive Adriatic League and Serbian League titles. Zirbes has also played for Trier and Saar-Pfalz in Germany and has been a member of the German national team. He won a German League title with Bamberg in 2013. Bayern sits atop Group F with a 3-0 record at the midway point in the 7DAYS EuroCup Top 16.
"I hope I can help the team soon, and we can fight together for three still possible titles," Zirbes told the FC Bayern Munich web site. "I have already seen some Bayern games this season and I know we are good defensively, and we have lots of assists and play selfless basketball. We also have a very good coach. So I'm looking forward to meeting my old friends in Munich."
