Bayern extends former champion Lucic

FC Bayern Munich made a first move in constructing a team for the next season by keeping its forward Vladimir Lucic, who signed a two-year extension, club announced on Friday. Lucic (2.04 meters, 28 years old) arrived to Bayern last summer, and in his first campaign with the team used a role of a starter to post 8.5 points and 2.8 rebounds. He also averaged 9.4 points per game last season in the German League, shooting three-pointers with 40% accuracy, along with 3.6 rebounds.

"We're really pleased to have Vladimir stay here with us and that we were able to come to an agreement so quickly," said Bayern chairman Marko Pesic. "Lucic has shown his abundance of quality throughout the course of last season and was a great role-model.

Lucic grew up and started his career with Partizan Belgrade, where he made his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut in 2009. After that, Lucic moved to Valencia Basket for the 2013-14 season, and since has played a total of 48 EuroCup games, winning the title in 2014.

"I'm very happy to be staying in Munich," Lucic said after signing a contract. "Bayern is a fantastic organization. I feel comfortable here and am confident that the club will take steps in the right direction for the coming season. I hope that the franchise gets where it wants to be in two years time. We’ve still got a job to do."
