A former All-EuroCup star is back in the competition after a season away as Lietuvos Rytas on Monday announced the signing of center Loukas Mavrokefalidis to a one-year contract. Mavrokefalidis (2.10 meters, 33 years old) has played five previous 7DAYS EuroCup seasons in his native Greece and Russia. Over one season each in PAOK, Maroussi and AEK Athens, plus two with Spartak St. Petersburg, Mavrokefalidis has been a guaranteed scorer, averaging 13.7 points through 54 games in the competition, not to mention 5.3 rebounds. His 24.2-point average with AEK in 2015-16 was the EuroCup's third-highest regular season history for players with nine or more appearances. He was chosen for the All-EuroCup team in the 2012-13 season while averaging 14.5 points and 5.3 rebounds in leading St. Petersburg to the quarterfinals. Additionally, Mavrokefalidis has averaged 6.2 ponts and 3 rebounds over his 104-game EuroLeague career with three clubs: Lottomatica Roma, Olympiacos Piraeus and Panathinaikos Athens.
