Cedevita Zagreb found a new head coach in Sito Alonso, who signed a two-plus-one year deal with the Croatian powerhouse on Friday night. Alonso, age 42, last coached FC Barcelona Lassa. Under his guidance, the team had a 7-14 record in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, as well as a 14-7 record in the Spanish League before being dismissed in early February. It was Alonso's third season in the EuroLeague. He had previously coached DKV Joventut Badalona in the 2008-09 season and Baskonia last season, leading it to the Playoffs. He also helped Baskonia reach the Spanish League and the Copa del Rey semifinals. He spent the previous two seasons at the helm for Bilbao Basket, posting an 11-5 record in the 7DAYS EuroCup in the 2015-16 season, and the previous three at Gipuzkoa Basket. As an assistant coach, Alonso was EuroCup champion with Joventut in 2008. Alonso replaces Jure Zdovc, who led the team to win the Croatian double - league and cup titles - this season.
