ALBA Berlin signs big Thiemann for three years

ALBA Berlin signed German national team big man Johannes Thiemann to a three-year contract, the club announced Tuesday. Thiemann (2.05 meters, 24 years old) arrives from fellow German side MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg. He averaged 11.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game during the regular season last year. Thiemann joined Brose Bamberg as a teenager in 2013, but spent most of his time there playing with its affiliated team, FC Baunach. He moved to Ludwigsburg in the summer of 2016.

"Johannes Thiemann is a very interesting player who has continued to improve in recent years," ALBA Sports Director Himar Ojeda said. "We are confident that he is ready to take the next step at ALBA and he will be good in our playing system and help on both sides of the court."
