Three days before its training camp opens, Partizan NIS Belgrade has re-signed its captain, veteran power forward Novica Velickovic, the club announced Friday. Velickovic (2.05 meters, 31 years old) is set to start his ninth season with Partizan. He put up 9.8 points and 3.8 rebounds over 18 minutes per game in six 7DAYS EuroCup appearances last season. He averaged 12.1 points and 5.3 rebounds in 21 Adriatic League games with the club last season. Born in Belgrade, Velickovic started his career with Partizan and played there until 2009. He helped the team win five consecutive domestic championships, as well as three Adriatic League crowns, and was voted the EuroLeague Rising Star in 2009. Velickovic went on to play for Real Madrid, with whom he reached the EuroLeague Final Four in 2011. He has also played for Mega Vizura of Serbia and Trabzonspor Medical Park in Turkey. Velickovic made his return to Partizan in 2016. He has also been a member of the Serbian national team, which he helped to a silver medal at EuroBasket 2009.
