Rytas Vilnius on Friday announced the signing of big man Nobertas Giga to a long-term contract that is pending a probationary period of one month to assess his physical status following an injury. Giga (2.08 meters, 23 years old) is from Vilnius and played on regional teams there before attending high school and university in the United States. He spent the last two seasons at Jacksonville University, averaging 8.6 points and 6.3 rebounds in the most recent one. Giga is currently rehabilitating an ankle injury, the announcement said, and will join the team once fully healed.
"We are happy to bring back a talent like Norbert to Vilnius," Rytas sports director Linas Kleiza said, "and we expect him to be a serious threat under the basket in the future."
Rytas opens its 7DAYS EuroCup season on October 2 at home against 2017 champion Unicaja Malaga.
