Partizan brings in Trinchieri as new boss

Big news arrived from Belgrade on Thursday when Partizan NIS Belgrade announced the signing of Andrea Trinchieri as new head coach for the next three seasons. Trinchieri, 50 years old, was not in any team since last spring. He was head coach of Brose Bamberg of Germany from 2014 to 2018, playing in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. He started his career as an assistant in 1998 in Olimpia Milan and in 2004 he became a head coach for Vanoli of Italy, which he promoted from the third division to the first. After that he coached Caserta, Veroli and Cantu in Italy until 2013.

Later, Trinchieri was also head coach of the Greek national team, which he combined with a job as head coach of UNICS Kazan of Russia, before he went to Bamberg. He was Coach of the Year in Italy with Cantu both in 2010 and 2011 and won the Italian SuperCup with Cantu in 2012-13. Trinchieri was also named Coach of the Year in the EuroCup in 2013-14 when he coached UNICS and he also won three German League titles with Bamberg. Trinchieri will fill in for Nenad Canak, who was waived from Partizan last week. The team stands at 1-4 after five rounds in Group C.
