With the 2012-13 Eurocup in its sights, KK Buducnost Voli Podgorica moved quickly to fill a void in its frontcourt by signing center Gerald Lee to a two-year contract. Lee (2.08 meters, 24 years) will be called on to patrol the paint for the Montenegrin champs after Bojan Dubljevic transferred to Valencia Basket of Spain. Lee started last season with Snaidero Udine of Italy's second division, averaging 14.6 points, then continued with Prima Veroli, posting 12.6 points and 6 rebounds over 27 games. Lee was a member of the Finnish national team at last year's EuroBasket 2011, averaging 9.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists in eight games. In a victory against Montenegro, coached by current Buducnost boss Dejan Radonjic, Lee was Finland's best scorer, with 12 points. Lee began his career with UU Korihait of Finland in 2004 and after two seasons attended Old Dominion University in the NCAA. He made his pro debut last season with Snaidero Udine. Lee continues successful family basketball tradition: his father and namesake was the best scorer ever on the Finnish national team, while he has two uncles who were NBA players, like his father.
