Limoges CSP was already eliminated from contention for the 7DAYS EuroCup quarterfinals before it's home finale on Tuesday, but that didn’t stop the team from putting forward a spirited effort, which included rallying back from a 13-point fourth-quarter deficit in playing a spoiler role. Limoges trailed Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade 51-64 with 8 minutes left, but fought back to win 72-71 for its first victory in the Top 16. Jonathan Rousselle drained a three-pointer with 48 seconds left to make it a one-point game and then, after a Zvezda turnover, Rousselle converted a tough layup over two Zvezda rim protectors with 14 seconds to play for the go-ahead score.
"We never gave up. Every time they had a run, we pushed back. That was a big play by Joe at the end of the game. He's a leader, and that's what leaders do. He's the captain of this team and he carried us to this win," said Isaiah Miles, who scored a team-high 13 points for Limoges.
The loss ended Zvezda's hopes of reaching the quarterfinals as the Serbian champion dropped to 1-4 in Group G - just like Limoges. Zvezda knew it needed to win this game and also to hope that Valencia Basket beat Unicaja Malaga on Wednesday to still have a chance to snatch a spot in the next stage. Limoges extinguished those dreams.
