Valencia loses Vives for finals
On the eve of the 7DAYS EuroCup Finals, unfortunate injury news has broken for Valencia Basket, which will lose point guard Guillem Vives for the entire best-of-three series that starts on Tuesday. Vives (1.92 meters, 25 years old) was injured Friday night in a Spanish League game. Tests on Saturday revealed a torn muscle in his right thigh that will sideline Vives for the length of the series with ALBA Berlin. Vives is averaging 4.4 points and 2.5 assists in 18 games this EuroCup season. He is a former Spanish League champ with Valencia, as well as a EuroBasket winner with the Spanish national team, so despite his youth, his experience will be missed in the series.
