Divina Seguros Joventut Badalona strengthened its frontcourt by inking center Alen Omic to a one-year deal, the club announced Thursday. Omic (2.16 meters, 27 years old) arrives from AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan, where he averaged 2.5 points and 3.6 rebounds in 14 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games last season. Omic started the 2018-19 season with Buducnost VOLI Podgorica, averaging 8.9 points on 62.0% two-point shooting and 4.7 rebounds in 15 EuroLeague games before joining Milan. Omic won the 2017 EuroCup with Unicaja Malaga and was chosen to the 2015-16 All-EuroCup First Team while playing for another Spanish team, Herbalife Gran Canaria.
Omic started his career with Zlatorog Lasko and made his EuroLeague debut with another Slovenian team, Union Olimpija Ljubljana, in the 2012-13 season. Omic has also played for Anadolu Efes Istanbul of Turkey, Hapoel Jerusalem of Israel and Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade of Serbia. Omic helped Zvezda win the Serbian League title in 2018 and lifted the Slovenian Cup with Olimpija in 2013. He has also been a member of the Slovenian national team and helped its U20 squad win a bronze medal at the 2012 European Championship.
