Buducnost VOLI Podgorica bolstered its frontcourt by inking center Martins Meiers to a one-year deal, the Montenegrin powerhouse announced Friday. Meiers (2.08 meters, 28 years old) arrives from Enisey Krasnoyarsk, where he averaged 11.0 points and 6.5 rebounds in 26 VTB League games last season. He started his career in Jurmalas Sports of his native Latvia and has also played for several teams in his country, such as Ventspils, VEF Riga and Liepajas Lauvas. Meiers has also played for Mitteldeutscher Weissenfels of Germany, and UNICS Kazan of Russia. Meiers has some valuable 7DAYS EuroCup experience, as he played 17 games in three seasons - two with Ventspils, one with UNICS -, averaging 3.4 points and 1.8 rebounds. Meiers is also a regular member of the Latvian national team.
