Limoges CSP added more promising talent to its frontcourt by getting center Atoumane Diagne on loan, the club announced Tuesday. Diagne (2.15 meters, 20 years old) arrives from FC Barcelona's second team, where he averaged 6.9 points and 6.4 rebounds in 34 Spanish second division games last season. He worked for Limoges head coach Alfred Julbe in Barcelona's youth categories. Diagne helped Barcelona win the 2016 Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation tournament in Berlin. Diagne scored 8 points and pulled down 4 rebounds in the championship game against Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade. "Atoumane is a young player, who arrives on loan from Barcelona, whom we contacted very early to bring us some size in the paint," Limoges sports director Crawford Palmer said. "With his size, extraordinary wingspan and surprising mobility, it can give us solutions to rebounds and protection of the rim while being dangerous near the basket. Its impact on a field goes far beyond statistics."
