Cedevita Olimpija tabs veteran forward Simonovic

Cedevita Olimpia Ljubljana tapped another veteran for the new 7DAYS EuroCup season by signing forward Marko Simonovic, the club announced Thursday. Simonovic (2.01 meters, 33 years old) spent the past two seasons with Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg. He averaged 6.0 points and 2.6 rebounds in 15 EuroCup appearances last season. He raised those numbers to 9.8 points and 3.0 rebounds in the VTB United League to aid Zenit in its march to the semifinals. Simonovic is a veteran of nine EuroCup seasons with five different teams.

Simonovic started his career with Radnicki Belgrade of Serbia and has since played for Lavovi 063 Belgrade, Egronom Best Nis, Hemofarm Stada Vrsac and Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade of Serbia, Buducnost Podgorica of Montenegro, ALBA Berlin of Germany, Elan Bearnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez of France and Zenit in Russia. He helped Buducnost win three consecutive Montenegrin League and Cup doubles from 2009 to 2011. In four seasons over two stints with Zvezda, he helped that team win two Adriatic League titles, two Serbian League crowns and three Serbian Radivoj Korac Cups in addition to reaching the EuroLeague Playoffs in 2016. Simonovic has been a long-time member of the Serbian national team, which he helped win silver medals at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Championships.
