Unicaja Malaga added size and experience to its roster by inking forward Melvin Ejim to a one-year deal, with an option to extend his contract until the end of the 2019-20 season. Ejim (2.01 meters, 28 years old) arrives from UNICS Kazan, where he averaged 7.4 points on 40% three-point shooting and 3.8 rebounds in 14 7DAYS EuroCup games last season, helping his team reach the semifinals. He joined UNICS from Umana Reyer Venice, where he averaged 10.1 points and 5.5 rebounds in 46 Italian League games in the 2016-17 season. He was chosen as the Italian League finals MVP, leading Venice to its first title in 74 years. Ejim started his career with Virtus Roma of Italy, averaging 8.1 points and 4.3 rebounds in 18 7DAYS EuroCup games in the 2014-15 season. Ejim has also played for Erie Bay of the D-League before joining Venice in March 2016. Ejim is also a member of the Canadian national team, helping it win a gold medal at the 2015 Tuto Marchand Cup and reach silver at the 2015 Pan American Games.
