Unicaja Malaga guard Jaime Fernandez will be sidelined indefinitely due to an operation on his feet, the club announced Saturday. Fernandez has suffered from heel problems in both feet this season, which has limited him and even caused him to miss several games. After examining all options, it was agreed that the best way for him to fully recover is to have surgery on both feet. Accordingly, will not play again this season. He averaged 9.1 points and 4.6 assists in 13 7DAYS EuroCup games this season.
"It has been very difficult to deal with this injury for the last two years. After trying all sorts of therapies, we decided it is time to listen to my body, stop, and put myself in the hands of the best specialists," Fernandez said. "I will put all my energy into my feet, my body and having a 100 percent recovery. I am looking forward to enjoying with all of you on the court, where I am happy. I will see you there soon."
