Herbalife Gran Canaria announced on Thursday that it has signed big man Matt Costello to a two-year contract extension. Costello (2.08 meters, 26 years old) has averaged 11.3 points and 7.6 rebounds this season in the Spanish League. He was third in the competition in rebounding with 7.3 per game when the league was stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Costello has been worth 14.3 points and 8.8 rebounds in the end-of-season tournament, where his average performance index rating of 21.5 is tied for best in the competition. He began his professional career with Iowa in the D-League and has also played for San Antonio in the NBA, Austin in the D-League and Avellino in Spain, where he made his European debut in 2018.
