ratiopharm Ulm added a strong piece to its backcourt with the addition of playmaker Thomas Klepeisz on a one-year deal, the club announced Friday. Klepeisz (1.86 meters, 28 years old) will actually be staying with Ulm after he finished the 2019-20 season with the club, averaging 11.8 points, 4.4 assists and 1.5 steals in the season-ending German League tournament, where Ulm reached the semifinals. The Austrian point guard played last season with Basketball Loewen Braunschweig, where he had spent the previous four campaigns. Klepeisz started his professional career with his home town club Gussing Knights, where he played until moving to Braunschweig in 2016. Klepeisz will be making his 7DAYS EuroCup debut after previously playing in the FIBA EuroChallenge and FIBA Europe Cup with Gussing. He is a standing member with the Austrian senior national team. "We are very happy that Tommy chose our team and our path," Ulm head coach Jaka Lakovic said. "Tommy is a great player and I think his qualities as a player and a person fit excellently to our team and playing style. He proved that in the tournament in Munich and I am certain that he will be an immensely important player for us in the future as well."
