Unicaja brings in forward Abromaitis

Unicaja Malaga signed veteran forward Tim Abromaitis to a two-year deal, the club announced Wednesday. Abromaitis (2.03 meters, 30 years old) arrives from Zenit St Petersburg, where he averaged 5.7 points and 3.7 rebounds in 27 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games last season. He comes to Unicaja with plenty of experience in Spanish basketball. Abromitis joined Zenit from Iberostar Tenerife, where he spent the 2018-19 season. He helped Tenerife reach the Spanish Copa del Rey semifinals and the Basketball Champions League title game.

Abromaitis started his professional career with ASVEL Villeurbanne and also played for another French team, Strasbourg, with which he debuted in the EuroLeague in 2013-14. Abromaitis next suited up for Basketball Loewen Braunschweig of Germany before joining Tenerife in 2015. He helped Tenerife win the Basketball Champions League title in 2017 and lift the Intercontinental Cup trophy in 2018. Abromaitis has also been a member of the United States University Games national team. His father, Jim Abromaitis, played in Spain and Italy in the early 1980s and took part in the 1980-81 EuroLeague with Real Madrid.
