Alongside members of the old guard, Group D of the 7DAYS EuroCup Regular Season also has plenty of fresh blood. Herbalife Gran Canaria is one of the steadiest of EuroCup teams and Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana has the rich traditions of two clubs in its genes. On the other end, Promitheas Patras made a great EuroCup debut last season, just like Dolomiti Energia Trento did with a semifinals appearance in 2016 and newcomer Frutti Extra Bursaspor hopes to do this season. Nanterre 92, which has won two minor European trophies in recent years, is eager to reach the round of 16 for the first time since its EuroCup debut in 2013-14.
Promitheas Patras
Promitheas Patras comes off a splendid debut season in the EuroCup in which it was heading into the elimination rounds with home-court advantage for the quarterfinals after finishing atop Group F with a 4-2 record. After needing just one decade to climb from the bottom level of the Greek system to the top league, the club has continued with its plan to grow into a power and under Coach Makis Giatras looks to challenge again in the EuroCup in its second go-around.
Herbalife Gran Canaria
Herbalife Gran Canaria is one of the great traditional EuroCup teams and it will make its return to the competition this season after two years away. A finalist in 2015 and a semifinalist the year after, Gran Canaria has tasted sweet moments in the EuroCup before. This season it will have a new look with Coach Porfirio Fisac on the sidelines, however, the buzz at Gran Canaria Arena should be the same as always with the team eager to please its fans in the EuroCup once again.
Dolomiti Energia Trento
This season will be Dolomiti Energia Trento's fourth straight and fifth season overall in the EuroCup. It has advanced to the Top 16 in all but one of them, including a run to the semifinals in its debut in 2015-16. Trento needed to win its final two regular-season games, including against group winner Unicaja Malaga, to reach the Top 16. That toughness with its back to the wall it exactly what Trento plans to have on display this season as it aims for a deep run once again.
Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana
Last season was the first of Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana after the merger of the powerful Cedevita and Olimpija franchises. Things did not go well early as Olimpija lost its first five games. That rough start did not deflate Olimpija's spirits and the team won four of its remaining five games to narrowly miss the Top 16. With a new look, which includes several stars returning from last season, Olimpija will strive to reach new heights in 2020-21.
Frutti Extra Bursaspor
Welcome to the EuroCup, Frutti Extra Bursaspor! The Turkish club is on the rise. After winning the Turkish second division in 2019, Bursaspor acclimated well to the top level and was in the playoff hunt in the Turkish League when the COVID-19 pandemic brought the season to a premature end. The ambitious squad already re-signed two of its best players from last season and will aim to make a splash in its EuroCup debut.
Nanterre 92
Nanterre 92 returned to the EuroCup last season for the first time in four years and was a worthy opponent, which missed out on the Top 16 when it lost its regular-season finale. However, the team bounced back and was well inside the playoff zone in the French League when the season came to an end. So far, Nanterre has not reached the Top 16 in any of its three previous EuroCup campaigns, though it has every intention of changing that this year.
