Nanterre 92 has boosted its backcourt on Saturday with the signing of veteran guard Dwight Buycks for what will be his 7DAYS EuroCup debut next season. Buycks (1.91 meters, 31 years old) is a one-time foreign MVP of the French League who had joined Olympiacos Piraeus last spring, playing in three Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games before the season was suspended due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. When last in France, Buycks was named the national league's best foreign player after averaging 18.0 points for Gravelines in the 2012-13 season. He had gone pro a year earlier, splitting the season between Tulsa of the G League and Oostende of Belgium. He has since made three stops in the NBA, with Toronto, Los Angeles Lakers and Detroit, and as many stops in the Chinese Basketball Association, with Tianjin, Fujian and Shenzhen, where he spent the last two seasons before joining Olympiacos. Buycks had debuted in the EuroLeague with Valencia Basket in 2014, averaging 12.0 points over that season's first three games, but was released after Valencia lost all three. Buycks has been a major scorer everywhere he played, averaging 18 points or more for 10 different teams since 2012.
