UNICS Kazan worked to maintain some consistency as it re-signed Evgeny Kolesnikov and Dmitrii Uzinskii for the 2020-21 season, the club announced Monday. Kolesnikov (1.95 meters, 34 years old) averaged 5.6 points and 2.9 rebounds while shooting 39.6% from three-point range in 16 7DAYS EuroCup games last season. He also collected 6.4 points and 2.5 rebounds in 17 games in the VTB United League. Kolesnikov grew up in the CSKA Moscow junior system and started his professional basketball career with CSK VVS Samara of Russia. He also played for fellow Russian clubs Ural Great Perm and Spartak Primorje Vladivostok before a season with VEF Riga of Latvia. He returned to Russia and played for Spartak St. Petersburg and Krasnie Krylia Samara and then helped UNICS to win the 2014 Russian Cup. He left after one season and lined up for Enisy Krasnoyarsk and Avtodor Saratov before a short stint in Spain with Obradoiro CAB. Kolesnikov came back to Russia and played for Avtodor Saratov and joined UNICS a second time in 2017. He will be playing his seventh season in the EuroCup.
Uzinskii began his career with Spartak Primorie Vladivostok of Russia and also played for PSK Sakhalin Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Nizhny Novgorod, the latter with which he debuted in the EuroCup in 2016-17. After three seasons with the club, Uzinskii joined UNICS and averaged 1.7 points in six EuroCup games last season as well as 2.5 points and 1.4 rebounds in 14 games in the VTB United League.
