7DAYS EuroCup newcomer JL Bourg has tapped into a wealth of experience in the competition by signing center Alen Omic to complete its roster on Friday. Omic (2.16 meters, 28 years old) is both a former EuroCup champion and a one-time member of the All-EuroCup First Team. All told, Omic has 88 games of EuroCup experience over six seasons with five different clubs. That's in addition to his 67 games in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague over four seasons with five clubs. (He split the 2018-19 between two.) All of which came since 2012, making Omic one of the most experienced 28-year-old centers in the game.
He began his European career in his native Slovenia with Union Olimpija Ljubljana, where he stayed from 2012 to 2015, when he joined Herbalife Gran Canaria of Spain, leading that team to the EuroCup Semifinals with 14.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. For that, he was selected to the All-EuroCup first team. The next year, he want even higher, winning the EuroCup title with Unicaja Malaga in remarkable fashion as he averaged 6.4 points and a team-high 5.5 rebounds per game. Since then, he has played stings with Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade, Buducnost VOLI Podgorica and AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan in the EuroLeague, as well as Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem and Joventut Badalona in the EuroCup. With Joventut last season, Omic put up 10.6 points and 6.2 rebounds on average over 15 games.
