Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana received a serious blow on Wednesday night with the devastating injury to center Mangok Mathiang. The big man, who came to the Slovenian capital this summer, suffered a broken tibia and fibula in his right leg during practice. Mathiang (2.08 meters, 27 years old) immediately underwent surgery in Ljubljana and has a lengthy recovery process ahead of him.

Mathiang was awaiting his EuroCup debut this season. He played at Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul last season and averaged 12.7 points, a Turkish League-best 10.6 rebounds and 1.4 blocks. He started his professional basketball career with Charlotte of the NBA and had also played for Greensboro of the D-League and Vanoli Basket Cremona of Italy before joining Bahcesehir. Mathiang has also been a member of the Australian national team.
