Partizan NIS Belgrade regularly looked like it would put away Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul, but the Turkish club fought back each time. That is until Partizan packed one final powerful punch for the knockout and a spot in the Top 16.
Partizan prevailed 88-75, but needed a 19-4 finish to the game to finally put away Bahcesehir and improve to 5-3 while dropping the visitors to 1-8 in Group A. Rashawn Thomas paced four Partizan scorers in double figures with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals while Codi Miller-McIntyre added 17 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists.
All game, Partizan would pull away and watch Bahcesehir come back. The hosts were up 21-12 in the first quarter before Bahcesehir pulled ahead 27-28 in the second quarter. In the third quarter, Partizan built a 47-37 lead, which was cut to 47-45. The home team extended the cushion out to 56-46 before it was tied at 58-58 late in the third quarter.
And then in the fourth quarter, Bahcesehir turned a 67-62 deficit into a 67-69 lead. Partizan had seen enough of the pesky guests and delivered the final surge. William Mosley came up with a massive putback dunk to start the 19-4 run to end the game. Miller McIntyre drained a three-pointer among his 9 points and Thomas had a triple and three-point play. This time there would be no answer from Bahcesehir.
The win keeps Partizan on a roll since Saso Filipovski took over as head coach. The team has won its last three EuroCup games with the new play-caller in charge - all at home - and is gaining momentum heading into the Top 16 for the third straight season. This game will also serve as a valuable lesson for the later stages of the competition that when there is a chance to put a team away, it is best to do so.
