Virtus Segafredo Bologna announced on Thursday that it has come to terms with swingman Awudu Abass on a contract extension through the end of the 2023-24 season. Awass (1.98 meters, 28 years old) averaged 5.7 points on 42.4% three-point shooting in 19 7DAYS EuroCup games last season. He helped Virtus win the Italian League and reach the EuroCup semifinals.
Abass joined Virtus from Germani Brescia Leonessa. He played for AX Armani Exchange Milan from 2016 to 2018 and helped the team win the Italian League in 2017-18 and lift the Italian Cup in 2017. Abass started his career with Pallacanestro Cantu and joined Milan in 2016. He is also a regular with the Italian national team. Abass helped Italy win a gold medal at the 2013 U20 European Championships.
