Promitheas hands reins to Casimiro

Promitheas Patras found a new head coach in Luis Casimiro, the club announced Thursday. Casimiro, age 61, arrives from Casademont Zaragoza, where he finished the 2020-21 campaign. He previously coached Unicaja for the best part of the last three seasons before being dismissed in January. In total. he has coached parts of seven seasons in the EuroCup and has only had a losing record once, with Alicante in 2003-04. His career EuroCup coaching record is 60-40 (60.0% wins). Casimiro had coached in Spain for his entire career, starting with Puertollano, Almodovar del Campo and Don Benito before joining Breogan's coaching staff in 1993. He went on to coach Gandia Basket, Alicante, Salamanca, Gijon Baloncesto and Basquet Manresa, which he led to the Spanish League title in 1998. Casimiro has also coached Caceres, Valencia Basket, Baloncesto Valladolid, Fuenlabrada, Estudiantes Madrid, Sevilla and Herbalife Gran Canaria. He helped Valencia reach the Saporta Cup final in 2002, won the Spanish second-division title with Fuenlabrada in 2005 and the Spanish SuperCup with Gran Canaria in 2016.
