ratiopharm Ulm picked up a well-tested weapon for its backcourt by signing point guard Semaj Christon for the coming season. Christon (1.91 meters, 28 years old) returns to the 7DAYS EuroCup after dominating in a brief stint with Limoges CSP in 2019-20. He averaged 17.6 points and 8.0 assists in seven games; his PIR of 19.7 was fourth-best in the EuroCup regular season. He then made a mid-season move to Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz, where Christon averaged 9.1 points and 3.7 assists in seven Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games.
Christon started his pro career in 2014 with Oklahoma City of the G League. He has since played for Pesaro in Italy, Oklahoma City in the NBA, Guangzhou in China, Santeros de Aguada in Puerto Rico, Hapoel Beer Sheva in Israel and Tofas Bursa in Turkey. He played on Team USA in the 2019 FIBA World Cup qualification games in the fall of 2017.
"We really like Semaj with his intense defense and his explosive drive to the basket," Ulm sports director Thorsten Leibenath said. "He is able to lead our team, organize the game and set up his teammates. In addition, he has the right attitude to use his impressive athleticism well at both ends of the floor."
