Ulm loses Philipps, signs Thornwell

After learning that forward Cristoph Philipps will undergo shoulder surgery and be sidelined for several months, ratiopharm Ulm moved quickly by signing combo-guard Sindarius Thornwell to fill his spot in the lineup. Thornwell (1.93 meters, 26 years old) comes to Europe for the first time after spending the past four seasons in the NBA with Los Angeles Clippers, New Orleans and Orlando. He also spent time in the G-League with Agua Caliente and Rio Grande. Last season Thornwell averaged 2.0 points and 1.0 assist in 21 games split between New Orleans and Orlando. He played college basketball at the University of South Carolina, which he led to the final four in 2017. He was a teammate of Hamburg Towers center Maik Kotsar that season.
