Euroleague Basketball will host its traditional Final Four symposium this season on the topic of "Sports Marketing and Communication: Three Visions of Reference" at Athens Olympic Indoor Hall (OAKA) in the Greek capital on Saturday, May 5 from 10:00 to 12:30. The event is open to Final Four guests, media and students of the Master in Sports Marketing and Communication that Euroleague Basketball has organized with the Universita Ca’ Foscari in Venice (Italy). The event will consist of three presentations – each of them lasting between 20 and 25 minutes – to show three different strategic perspectives on the topic. It will feature representatives from the NBA, Infront and Nike. After the presentations, there will be a question and answer session.
The NBA will be represented by Sophie Goldschmidt, Vice President of Marketing Partnerships and Business Development NBA EMEA. Her job is to oversee the NBA’s marketing partnerships in Europe, develop and enhance the relationship, as well as create new programs to grow the NBA brand in conjunction with its sponsors. Nike will be represented by Paul Santen, regional brand manager for basketball and football in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Santen has been working for Nike for 15 years in sports marketing, footwear product marketing, product management and sales. Infront will be represented by its basketball director, Benedikt von Dohnanyi. Infront is the exclusive commercial partner to the Chinese Basketball Association and is undertaking a major, long-term marketing and re-branding of the CBA Professional League through a joint venture. Infront is also the exclusive global marketing partner for China’s national basketball teams through 2008. This decision by the CBA creates an opportunity rare in sport – promotion of a league and national teams together.
