One of the most special guests at the 2011 Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four made the grandest of entrances to Barcelona on Saturday. Mr. Hamdi Topçu, the Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board, landed this afternoon in an airplane newly decorated in the logo and colors of the competition for which his company secured the naming rights for the first time this season. Mr. Topçu was greeted upon arrival by Euroleague Basketball President and CEO Jordi Bertomeu, who admired the unique way in which the Turkish Airlines Euroleague will be promoted on land and from the sky. The new plane will be put into the Turkish Airlines fleet, to be flown on routes around Europe and beyond. Turkish Airlines agreed to become the title sponsor of Europe's signature basketball competition for five seasons, with an option to extend the relationship until the end of the decade. Along with putting its name on a great competition, Turkish Airlines has joined forces with Euroleague Basketball's corporate responsibility program, Euroleague for Life, which this weekend features a charity concert on Saturday night to benefit UNICEF's initiative to enhance educational opportunities in Africa. Euroleague Basketball and Turkish Airlines complete their first season together on Sunday with the crowning of a Turkish Airlines Euroleague champion.
