Tribute to the Champs: Demetris Nichols

Even though veteran forward Demetris Nichols played only 6 seconds at the Final Four, his time on the floor came at the very end of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Championship Game and he was the one who caught the last rebound as CSKA’s wild on-court celebration began. With one arm in the air, it seemed like he never wanted to let the ball go, cherishing the biggest moment of his professional career. Nichols broke his foot midway through the Top 16, but wasted little time in returning to be one of the key contributors off the bench, a role he has had with CSKA for the past two seasons. With his size and a reliable touch from long range, Nichols helped stretch opposing defenses and is one of the reasons why CSKA’s offense never stopped rolling the entire season, at the end of which Nichols finished as a Turkish Airlines Euroleague champion.
