The 2013 Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four Fan Zone has been a huge success for both the organizers and fans, who even occasionally got a glimpse of the sun at Trafalgar Square in downtown London.
“As the title sponsor of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague, we are very pleased and happy with the way Euroleague Basketball managed to put together an entertaining Fan Zone like this,” said Murat Öz, Sponsorship Investment Manager of Turkish Airlines. “The support of the people that have come around the Fan Zone since Friday is proof that basketball can be relevant in the UK.”
Among countless activities all weekend, visitors to the Fan Zone were able to see 3on3 basketball as well as dunk contests, three-point shootouts and watch Turkish Airlines Euroleague highlights shown on the big screens hovering over the main court, where there were also regular contests for prizes.
Basketball enthusiasts and novices also had a chance to shoot on the court, framed by Nelson’s Column and the National Gallery. Chema Vilches Liebanas and his three children Chema, Hugo and Marina were among those that took the opportunity to shoot around in the spectacular site. “This is fantastic. We are very happy to be here in London. We are Madrid fans and we hope they win the final,” he said at the Fan Zone on Sunday. “My kids loved it in the Fan Zone and on the court. They didn’t want to leave.”
