U18 Movistar Estudiantes Madrid scored the final 15 points in beating U18 Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul 67-72 in the opening game of the EUROLEAGUE BASKETBALL ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT Qualifying Tournament Coin. Estudiantes came back from a 13-point deficit and trailed by 10 points with four minutes left before putting together the 0-15 run and picking up the win in Group A. Pablo Suarez led the way for Estudiantes with 16 points while Diego Alderete collected 15 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals. Darussafaka was paced by Yavuz Gultekin with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Suarez’s three-pointer was the first points of the tournament and Alex Tamayo gave Estudiantes the early 0-5 lead. The lead was still 8-9 when Cadgas Atbas scored 4 straight points and Furkan Cevikel nailed a three-ball for a 15-9 Darussafaka lead. Harun Apaydin nailed a triple at the first quarter buzzer and the cushion was 19-14. Darussafaka went through Cevikel in building a 31-19 advantage and the margin was 34-21 following Dora Doruk’s three-pointer. But Diego Alderete knocked down two three-pointers as Estudiantes closed to within 34-27 at the break. Another Doruk three-pointer had the Darussafaka advantage to double-digits at 43-32. Estudiantes got some big energy points from Andriy Grystsak in pulling it to within 43-41 before Arda Tunca and Berkay Bayar came off the bench for seven points in pushing the advantage back to 12 points - 53-41. Suarez and Diego Alderete stepped up and had Estudiantes to within 55-53 after three quarters. Doruk nailed two more three-pointers as the lead was up to 67-57. But Estudiantes held Darussafaka scoreless for the final 5:21 minutes and Victor Martinez scored four points and Tamayo knocked down a big three-pointer as Estudiantes pulled ahead 67-68. Suarez and Diego Alderete both added two free throws in the final 16 seconds to secure the win.
