In a big thriller than went down to the wire, Cajasol Sevilla needed overtime to down Panellinios BC 82-87 in Group L in Lamia, Greece on Tuesday. Cajasol registered its third road win in this Eurocup season and Panellinios got its first home loss. Louis Bullock led the winners with 23 points. Mindaugas Katelynas added 16, Paul Davis had 14 while Tomas Satoransky got 13 for Cajasol. Torin Francis led 6 Panellinios players in double digits with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Vangelis Sklavos added 15 points, Steven Smith had 14, Maurice Bailey got 12 while Joseph Krabbenhoft and Samo Udrih each contributed 11 for the hosts. Cajasol opened the game with a 2-11 run and managed to get a double-digit lead, 7-17, soon after that. ullock had 11 points in the third quarter to keep Cajasol ahead, 38-45, at halftime. Back-to-back three-pointers by Smith and Bailey got Panellinios within 56-57 at the end of the third quarter. A three-pointer by Tomas Satoransky and free throws by Bullock sent the game to overtime, 70-70. An outstanding Bullock and critical free throws by Satoransky sealed the outcome down the stretch.
Panellinios struggled to score early while Kaloyan Ivanov, Katelynas and Davis fueled a 2-11 opening run that Satoransky capped with a triple. Smith sank a triple and Torin Francis added a dunk but Satoransky and Katelynas kept Cajasol way ahead, 7-17. Krabbenhoft followed free throws with a layup and got some help from Francis and Smith to get the hosts as close as 14-19. Ivanov buried a triple and Louis Bullock hit a jumper but Krabbenhoft and Francis kept Panellinios within 22-26. A big triple by Bullock and a final basket by Bailey fixed the score at 24-29 after 10 minutes. Cajasol kept running its offense through Bullock, who nailed consecutive shots. Sklavos sank foul shots and Bailey hit a jumper but Katelynas and Bullock kept Cajasol way ahead, 28-39. Sklavos scored off a Panellinios timeout and Udrih found his first points but Katelynas restored a double-digit Cajasol margin, 32-42. Sklavos had 4 points in a 6-0 Panellinios run but Bullock nailed a three-pointer that allowed Cajasol to get a 38-45 lead at halftime.
Davis and Francis traded baskets right after the break but a three-pointer by Smith gave Panellinios some hope at 43-47. Davis hit 4-of-4 free throws but Francis answered with back-to-back baskets. Tariq Kirksay stepped up with a jumper, as Cajasol tried to slow down the game tempo. Krabbenhoft bettered that with a three-pointer but Katelynas took over with consecutive baskets to give Cajasol some fresh air, 50-57. Smith and Bailey, however, stepped up with back-to-back triples to make it a one-point game, 56-57, after 30 minutes. Txemi Urtasun shined with a layup early in the fourth quarter and bettered Smith's jumper with a three-point play, good for a 58-62 Cajasol edge. Katelynas scored again and Juanjo Triguero split free throws but free throws by Samo Udrih and 5 unanswered points by Vassilis Xanthopoulos tied the game at 65-65 with 4 minutes left. Udrih split free throws and added a key basket to give Panellinios its first lead, 68-65. Satoransky answered from downtown but Sklavos and Bullock traded free throws for a 70-70 tie with a minute to go. Bailey, Bullock and Francis traded missed shots to take the game to overtime.
Bullock struck from downtown early in the extra period and Davis added free throws for a 71-75 Cajasol lead. Panellinios struggled to score right when it mattered and more foul shots by Bullock boosted the guests' lead to 71-77. Sklavos tried to rescue his team with a triple but a layup by Kirksay kept Cajasol way ahead, 74-79. Udrih sank free throws while Davis and Francis traded baskets for a 78-81 score with a minute left. Satoransky made 4-of-4 free throws in crunch time and Bullock added two more to allow Cajasol to get back home with a quality road win.
