Pamesa Valencia remained perfect in the Eurocup this season by outlasting Hemofarm Stada 65-60 at home on Tuesday. Vule Avdalovic scored 7 points in a 10-1 run that bridged the third and fourth quarters to give Pamesa the lead for good and he remained red hot down the stretch to help seal the win. Pamesa improved to 2-0 in Group K of the Last 16 and will visits winless Azovmash next week. Hemofarm dropped to 1-1 and hosts Crvena Zvezda in Week 3. Avdalovic scored 17 of his team-high 19 points in the final 11 minutes to lead head coach Neven Spahija’s squad to the win. Shammond Williams added 16 points and Rafa Martinez scored 11 for the winners. Teenage star Milan Macvan paced Hemofarm with 15 points and center Marton Bader scored 12 of his 14 points in the fourth period to keep Hemofarm in the game late, but it would not be enough.

Macvan opened the scoring for the visitors, before Martinez netted Valencia’s first points with free throws. Macvan and Boban Marjanovic each scored on the offensive glass before back-to-back threes by Martinez and Williams put Pamesa ahead 12-8. However the topsy-turvy game continues to see momentum switch hands as Marjanovic converted a three-point play, Nebojsa Joksimovic put the visitors ahead and Macvan finished the period with a basket that made it 12-15. Macvan added another bucket at the start of the third period to cap a 0-9 Hemofarm charge. A Kosta Perovic slam ended the Hemofarm run, but soon Joksimovic upped the Hemofarm lead to 14-21. Florent Pietrus brought the hosts back within 2 only to see Miljan Pavkovic hit a pair of triples and Petar Despotovic make a layup to create an 8-point Hemofarm cushion. Avdalovic and Martinez brought Pamesa within 4 before Macvan ended the half with a layup to make it 25-31 at halftime.

Williams tried to ignite the hosts with a triple to start the third period and Perovic followed with a slam to bring the hosts within 1. Macvan answered from downtown and Stefan Markovic and Bojan Krstovic added points as Hemofarm regained control. However Williams persisted with a pair of baskets to keep Valencia within striking distance. Macvan made it 37-43 with a minute left in the period only to see the hosts erupt to finish the period on top. Avdalovic hit a three and added a layup to bring his team within 1 and Pietrus cored inside to give Pamesa its first lead since the first period, 45-44 at the end of the third period. Another Avdalovic basket to start the fourth quarter made it a 10-1 run. Bader ended the bleeding for Hemofarm, but Avdalovic drilled a triple to extend the hosts’ advantage. Boris Savovic scored on the offensive glass, however a red-hot Avdalovic came up with a steal and a three-pointer. Bader scored twice to bring Hemofarm back within 1, but Avdalovic came through again with a basket and the dished to Martinez for a three to make it 58-52. Matt Nielsen extended the lead to 7 from the line. Bader scored a basket and then hit 2 free throws to make it 59-56. The difference remained the same after Pietrus and Pavkovic free throws, and then Williams and Bader traded free throws before Avdalovic’s free throws iced the win.

"One more victory, suffering like always. I want to congratulate my team, because for one more time, we won with heart more than with other things. We played 100 percent with heart because we have nothing else right now."
KARADZIC, STEVAN
Hemofarm Stada Vrsac
"Congratulations to Pamesa's team for the victory. I think we played very well for 35 minutes. My young players didn't play strong defense all 40 minutes and we had a lot of problems in defending three-points shots. In the second half, we had problems with offensive rebounds too, and we had 19 turnovers. I'm satisfied with how we played for 35 minutes, but it's not enough because Pamesa is the best team of the group."
