U18 Divina Seguros Joventut Badalona remained undefeated at the EUROLEAGUE BASKETBALL ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT Torneig de Bàsquet Junior Ciutat de L’Hospitalet with a convincing 56-82 victory over U18 Panathinaikos Superfoods Athens. Didac Cuevas collected 23 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for Joventut, which had already guaranteed first place in Group B and finished at 3-0. Joel Parra added 17 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals for Joventut, which next faces U18 Herbalife Gran Canaria Las Palmas in the semifinals on Sunday. Panathinaikos dropped to 0-3 in its ANGT debut despite Alfredos Pilavios scoring 18 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. Panathinaikos will take on U18 Union Olimpija Ljubljana for seventh place on Sunday.

Panathinaikos needed almost 3 minutes before it scored a basket and Pedro Barros scored 4 points in building a 4-8 lead for Joventut. Parra had collected 8 points for Joventut as the lead grew to 13-21, and Cuevas nailed a three-pointer at the buzzer as Joventut was up 15-24 after one quarter. Cuevas knocked down another triple and Parra’s three-point play had the Spanish team up 23-35. And the advantage was 28-39 at intermission. Cuevas and and Parra continued their superb games, combining for 9 points in an 0-11 run to start the third quarter for a 28-50 lead. Joventut’s first 30-point advantage came at 31-61 and the gap was 38-72 after three quarters. Stavros Katsaris came off the Panathinaikos bench and hit 2 three-pointers and Pilavios was also on target from long range in helping Panathinaikos cut the gap to 54-79. But Joventut just had too much depth for Panathinaikos.
