Prokom Trefl stayed alive in the race to make it to the Euroleague Top 16 in Group B by downing visiting Armani Jeans Milano 73-60 in Sopot, Poland on Wednesday. Prokom improved to 3-7 and is one win away from Olympiacos, sixth at 4-6. Meanwhile, Milano dropped to 2-8 and has limited chances to advance to the next round. It didn't last long, as Dalmau and Jagodnik shined in a 12-2 run which gave Prokom the lead for good. Wojcik and Tomas Pacesas took over in the final period to seal the win.

Andersen got Prokom going with a turnaround jumper. Armani tried a 3-2 zone defense that Dalmau beat with a drivie for a 4-0 Prokom lead. Calabria fired in a three which Fajardo followed with an easy basket to bring Milano within 6-5. Nemeth fired up the crowd with his first triple, but Milano's Mario Gigena buried a three from the left wing to tie , 9-9. Nemeth and Blair exchanged baskets before Jeff Noordgard hit a corner three that gave Prokom a 14-11 edge. Milano made the most out Prokom being in the foul bonus as Gigena and Bulleri combined for 5 quick points for the visitors' first lead, 14-16. It didn't last, however. Jagodnik nailed a three-pointer to spark an 8-0 run in which Nemeth also scored from downtown for a 24-18 Prokom lead after 10 minutes.

The second quarter started just as the first ended, with a three-pointer by Nemeth tht made it 27-18. Tyrone Grant stepped up with a close basket but Prokom was now in charge. Jagodnik followed a layup with a three-point play to force a Milano timeout at 32-20. Galanda came to the rescue with a jumper and a basket-plus-foul which brought Milano within 34-25. Prokom did not panic and carried on powering the boards, but Milano was a different team now. Galanda stroke from downtown and followed Blair's layup with a free throw to bring the guests within 37-31 after 18 minutes. A fallaway jumper by Calabria and a free throw by Sven Schultze got Milano even closer, 38-35, at halftime.

Grant made a short jumper to keep the Milano comeback alive, but Dalmau matched it with a fast break basket. Grant kept pacing the guests with a close basket while Calabria fired in a big three to give Milano a 40-42 lead. Wojcik tied it with a layup and Noordgard hit a three for a 45-42 Prokom edge. Nemeth capped a 7-0 run with free throws, but Bulleri hit a jumper for a 47-44 score. Wojcik took over with a basket-plus-foul and Dalmau slashed for an easy layup to force a Milano timeout at 52-44. Galanda tried to wake Milano up with a close basket but once again Dalmau erased with a fast break layup. Wojcik and Claudio Coldebella exchanged free throws to fix the score at 56-48 after 30 minutes.

Wojcik scored in the low post to boost Prokom's lead back to double digits, 58-48. Blair came to the rescue with a put-back dunk but Wojcik answered from downtown to make it an 11-point game, 61-50. Fajardo scored inside and Gigena hit a three to give Milano some hope at 61-55. Tomas Pacesas made a three from the top of the key to keep Prokom fully in charge. Fajardo was the only one to score in the next 2 minutes, but his free throws only brought Milano within 64-57 with under 4 minutes to go. Jagodnik sealed the outcome with a bomb from downtown, 67-57. Milano kept trying, as Bulleri hit a corner triple but Pacesas joined the three-point festival to make all Prokom fans celebrate a key win which keeps their team alive in the Top 16 race!

"We needed this victory a lot. We played some really bad games before and mentally this team didn't feel well. Now I'd like to thank all the players for the way they fought tonight, we played with much bigger ambition than before and that's why we won. I'm also happy that fans were with us in this very tough moment and supported us. They had their brick to this victory. I decided to change something, we started the game with a different starting line-up, because I wanted to wake up whole team. I hope, that after this game our shape will improve game by game, because we still believe in Top 16."
LARDO, LINO
AJ Milano
"It was our last chance to be still involved in the race for the Top 16 and we lost it. Now we may concentrate only on the Italian League, because we cannot achieve anything in the Euroleague anymore. We have two new players, but they couldn't help us a lot after just few days with the team. I'd like to congratulate Prokom, the hosts were better. We played a bad game. We should have more force the game inside, where Blair was in good shape, but were able to make it. On the other side we also missed many open shots outside and that's why we lost."

"I'm really glad, that we finally won, we snapped this frustrating series. Finally we played as a team, without indyvidual achievements, it was really a team effort. We all ran the court really well, we played much faster and that's why we had many open shots. In defense there was a lot of help. I hope it's going to be getting better game by game. We still believe we can repeat our success from last season ang reach the Top 16 again, but I don't look forward too much. I just look at the closest game, because every Euroleague day is very important for us. Next game we have at Barcelona and we have to try to win there."
BULLERI, MASSIMO
AJ Milano
"We played really bad both in offense and defense. Prokom was better, they led for almost the whole game and deserve the victory. They played with bigger intensity, bigger motivation, they played faster. We had new players with us, but I cannot say much about them. They weren't able to help us a lot after just few practises and we all need more time."
