U18 Armani Junior Milan will play for third place at the Euroleague Basketball ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT Qualifying Tournament - Torneo Citta di Roma after beating U18 Umana Reyer Venice 72-83 in Monday’s final game. Tommaso Baldasso collected 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for Milan, which finished second in Group B with a 2-1 record and will take on U18 Virtus Bologna for third place. Nemaja Dincic added 16 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 8 fouls drawn for Milan and Davide Toffali chipped in 15 points. Venice dropped to 0-3 and last place in the group despite 23 points and 9 rebounds from Alessandro Simioni, while Riccardo Visconti added 22 points. Venice will play against U18 Anadolu Efes Istanbul for seventh place.
Toffali scored the first 6 points of the game for Milan before Venice scored the next 4 points. Simioni had 6 points as Venice trailed 8-10 when Baldasso scored and assisted on Michele Serpilli’s basket to help Milan open a 9-16 lead. Baldasso's next basket increased the advantage to 10-20 only to see Visconti tally 4 points to bring Venice to within 16-20. The gap was 16-21 after 10 minutes. Three-pointers from Baldasso and Michele D'Ambrosio plus another Toffali basket pushed Milan ahead 22-31. Nicholas Groppi nailed a three-pointer as Milan answered with the next 7 points to make it a 2-point
game. And back-to-back scores from Simioni evened the game at 33-33. Baldasso and Matteo Lagana came back at the other end with three-pointers to give Milan the lead, 33-40, at intermission.
Bereket Sovera scored 4 points and both Dincic and Baldasso made 2 free throws as the Milan cushion increased to 35-48 early in the third. Dincic added 4 more free throws to put Milan ahead 39-54 midway through the third quarter. Federico Miaschi scored a basket and Simioni nailed a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 10 points. Serpilli knocked down a three for Milan to make it 44-59, but Visconti answered with a triple of his own and Simioni cut the deficit to 49-59. Serpilli hit another triple and Omar Dieng and Lagana combined for 3 free throws as Milan took a 51-65 advantage after 30 minutes. Venice opened the fourth quarter on a 6-2 spurt to trim the gap to 10 points, and Simioni tallied to make it 61-70 with five minutes remaining. After Dincic and Toffali combined for the next 4 points for Milan, Venice hit 5 straight points to pull within 66-74. But Toffali converted a three-point play and Baldasso knocked down a three-pointer to make it 66-80 with 1:32 minutes to play and decide the game.
