Part of the picture in Group E began to form on Tuesday in Kfar Blum, Israel, where Swiss champion Benetton Fribourg defeated Hapoel Galil Elyon 65-85. Pascal Perrier-David recorded the fourth triple-double in ULEB Cup history and Ken Johnson blocked everything in sight as Fribourg improved to 3-2 with its first road win, making a statement that the club will battle for a spot in the elimination rounds with all its might. Perrier-David finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, joining Oostende's Elvir Ovcina as the only two players to record triple doubles this season. Todor Stoykov (Lukoil Academic) and Meir Tapiro (Hapoel Jerusalem) are the others. Meanwhile Johnson finished with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocked shots, increasing his season total to 23 blocks in five games. Tresor Quidome led all Fribourg scorers with 20 points, Marcus Sloan added 13, Douglas Tshomba 12 and Dave Esterkamp 11. Jai Lewis scored 22 and grabbed 13 boards in his ULEB Cup debut for Galil, which dropped to 1-4 and with only two home games remaining, is a long shot to advance. Galil's Clif Brown added 15, while Yogev Ohayon dished 8 assists. The hosts started strong and led 10-2 in the opening minutes, but Fribourg came back, cut the lead to 19-15 after 10 minutes, took th elead early in the second and never looked back.

After a scoreless opening minute, Lewis scored his first ULEB Cup points on the offensive glass to get the hosts started. Lewis remained active inside and Doron Sheffer ran the break to give Galil an early 10-2 lead. Johnson's work on both ends of the floor kept Fribourg in the game and baskets by Quidome and Perrier-David cut the gap to 19-15 after 10 minutes. Esterkamp made it a 1-point game and after four minutes, Quidome's second triple gave the visitors their first lead. Esterkamp added another to cap a 0-8 charge and put Fribourg up 24-31. Lewis cam back with a three, but the red-hot Swiss champs continued their run as Perrier-David and Marcus Sloan stepped up during a 0-9 run for a 27-40 lead. Brown got 4 points from the line to help cut the gap to 33-42 at halftime. Johnson's defensive presence kept Galil from going inside and when the outside shots didn't fall, Quidome and Perrier-David helped put Fribourg ahead 35-51. The 16-point advantage remained through the 30-minute mark and continued to grow in the fourth as the visitors celebrated the big road win.

Head Coaches

KANETI, ELIOT
Hapoel Galil Elyon
"This is the first game, regardless of the result, that I simply felt we were exhausted and that it affected the mental part of our game, both on offense and defense. Before the game I said we were improving, but playing 45 minutes in the [Israeli] League on Sunday affected us and we couldn't build any momentum all game long."

Players

LEWIS, JAI LAMAR
Hapoel Galil Elyon
"I just got here, so I'm trying to get the feel of the team. Hopefully we can get it together and advance in the ULEB Cup. It's a long shot, but we gotta try. Our defense is what we gotta work on. I'm a competitor and when I'm on the floor, I'll play as hard as i can."
