Thompkins buried his trademark three-pointer from the right corner and Rivers erased Freeland's jump hook with an acrobatic basket that gave Madrid hope at 64-55. Ayon rolled off a high post pick for an easy basket, but Teodosic restored CSKA’s 10-point lead. Rivers sank another one from beyond the arc before Fridzon and Ayon traded baskets. "First, I would like to say Happy New Year and Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it today – Russians, Serbs, others. Thanks to the fans who filled the gym tonight, who supported us – the game is meaningless without them and players feel their support on the floor. Congratulations to the players, we played better and deserved to win. We were more dedicated to defense in the second half, we forced the opponents to 17 turnovers, the difference in rankings was 113-79. But the numbers don’t reflect our defensive effort. Somebody can look at the boxscore and say that it was De Colo and Teodosic who decided the outcome. They did play well. But others, who did not score much, also deserve to be praised. For example, Kurbanov was our defensive cornerstone as well as Nichols, they rebounded, deflected, switched, denied. It was obvious how we missed Vorontsevich, who helped a lot both on defense and offence. And we can mention many. There were some moments when we allowed our opponents to score easy baskets, and in our Top 16 group every rebound, every point is crucial. This is why I took timeout in the last minute, this is what I was saying to the team. We have 12 more final games on this stage."
LASO, PABLO
Real Madrid
"Congratulations to CSKA, they played more solid for 40 minutes. It is very difficult to win here if you make 17 turnovers. We had a moment in the game when the score was 75-70 and Nocioni shot an open three. But he missed, we made mistakes and let the game slip away. Still, I repeat, our opponents played 40 solid minutes and we played up-and-down."

DE COLO, NANDO
CSKA Moscow
"I think [the most important part] was to play defense. We know they have very good players who can make lots of things on the court. We needed to play defense and play together; it what we missed in Khimki. So no we need to keep working on it. I just tried to read the game. We practice hard every day. I just do my job. "
RIVERS, KC
Real Madrid
"When two big teams play like today it is important to make less mistakes. So the best team won tonight. We made a lot of mistakes offensively, defensively and mentally - especially in the third and fourth quarters – we let the game turn around. CSKA played excellent the whole game."
