Bayern blasts ALBA for fifth place

U18 FC Bayern Munich finished the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament Munich in fifth place after knocking off U18 ALBA Berlin 94-62 in an all-German battle. Filip Skubalj paced Bayern with 16 points, Noah Jallow added 13 points and both Daniel Zdravevski and Jason George scored 11 points. Ben Lingk was the leading scorer for ALBA with 18 points and 8 rebounds and Elias Roedl picked up 15 points in the loss.

Jallow scored 5 points in giving Bayern an 8-0 lead. ALBA finally got on the board more than 4 minutes into the game on Lingk's free throws. It was 12-4 before ALBA finally made a basket by Roedl with 3 minutes left in the quarter. Erik Penteker and Lamin Sabally both added three-pointers to bring ALBA within 19-12 after 10 minutes. ALBA used more three-pointers to get closer in the second quarter; Lingk hit from downtown and Roedl nailed a pair of triples to make it 29-27. Matej Rudan connected from the outside at the other end to help Bayern to a 38-32 lead at the break. ALBA could not solve the Bayern defense and 5 points from Sasha Grant helped the home team open the second half with a 12-0 run in the first 4 minutes for a 50-32 lead. An Evans Rapieque three-pointer trimmed it to 52-38, but Bayern finished the third quarter on an 18-3 surge to lead 70-41 going into the final 10 minutes. After the lead swelled to 31 points early in the fourth quarter, ALBA was only able to get within 26 points the rest of the way.
