The Antwerp Giants outlasted Benetton Fribourg 58-50 on Tuesday to fight its way back to the elimination rounds battle from Group E. The Giants improved to 2-4 in Group E and rejoined the race to reach the elimination rounds. Meanwhile, Fribourg dropped to 3-3 and has a crucial home game against Allianz Swans Gmunden next week. Thomas Lamont scored 5 points during a 9-0 run in the closing minutes that broke the game open for Antwerp. Brandon Gay paced the winners with 15 points while Yves Dupont grabbed 11 rebounds and dished 5 assists for Antwerp. Pascal Perrier-David, who had a triple-double against Hapoel Galil Elyon last week, led olympic Fribourg with 11 points. Douglas Tshomba added 10 while Ken Johnson pulled down 12 boards for the guests. Three-pointers by Tshomba and Oliver Vogt put Fribourg ahead while free throws by David Esterkamp boosted the guests' lead to 24-33 at halftime. An 11-2 run that Kris Sergeant capped with a triple allowed the Giants to get a 40-39 edge. Fribourg was limited to just 3 points in the last 4 minutes, while Gay, Lamot and Ryan Sears allowed the hosts to seal an important win.

Tresore Quidone got Fribourg started with a pair of free throws, but Antwerp came out firing and back-to-back three-pointers from Gay and Aleksander Lichodzijewski and another Gay basket quickly made it 8-2. Quidone scored and then set up David Esterkamp as the visitors remained close. Johnson capped a 0-8 Fribourg run to tie the game and it remained knotted at 14-14 after 10 minutes. Perrier-David drilled back-to-back threes early in the second period to give Fribourg a 17-22 advantage. The visitors remained red hot from downtown, as Tshomba and Oliver Vogt also connected to help Fribourg to a 24-33 halftime lead. Esterkamp put Fribourg up 12 with a three to open the second half, but Gay answered in style, igniting an 11-1 charge that carried Antwerp back. Kris Sergeant hit a triple to put the hosts on top 40-39 and Antwerp kept a 1-point lead heading into the fourth quarter. With the tension growing, the lead changed hands four times in the first three minutes of the fourth quarter before Sergeant made it 47-45 with a triple. Both teams seemed to hit the wall energy-wise as the pace dropped and no one scored fro three minutes. Quidone then tied it from the line, but Thomas Lamont arrived on the scene to score 5 during a 9-0 run that earned Antwerp the victory.
