TAU won its first game in the Euroleague against Charleroi in the Fernando Buesa Arena in Vitoria. The Lithuanian player Stombergas (who began with a 4 of 4 series of 3 pointers) and his 16 points were crucial for the victory of the Spanish team, and he became the absolute protagonist of the game. Even though he's not able to play in the ACB (the Spanish League), his performance allowed TAU to get its first noticeable difference in the scoreboard. In the beginning of the second period, this difference increased to 15 points (35-20). Nevertheless, the Belgian team managed to achieve a 4-16 run, after the seemingly non-existent play of TAU in the paint. The half time came with an open score (41-36). In five minutes of the second half, TAU went as far as 15 points ahead on the scoreboard again (56-43), but Ivanovic had to take Stombergas out of the game upon committing his fourth foul. It was at this point when Charleroi scored a 1-10 run, thanks to their offensive rebounding, reducing the difference to four points. In the last quarter, Stombergas came back and sealed the game in two consecutive plays (a 3 pointer and a dunk) that put a significant 64-55 on the scoreboard. Bozzi asked for a time-out that was unable to improve Charleroi's game, which began to look for individual actions that turned out unsuccessful. It was Elmer Bennett, and his performance as a real leader, who kept TAU on the right path to the final victory.
