Snaidero Udine bounced back from its initial loss in Group B by beating Besiktas JK Cola Turka 82-73 at home on Tuesday night. Snaidero now ties with BK Ventspils for the third place in this group, each with a 1-1 record, while Besiktas ties with Anwil Wloclawek for the fifth spot at 0-2. Andrew Wisniewski led the winners with 17 points and 6 assists. Jakob Jaacks posted a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds, Larry O'Bannon also had 15 points while Damon Williams added 10 for Snaidero. Brooks Sales posted a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead Besiktas. Cehver Ozer added 17 points, Audrey Reese had 12 and Baris Ozcan 10 for the guests. The game saw as many as 12 lead changes in the opening 25 minutes until Djuro Ostojic hit a free throw to give Besiktas a 45-46 edge. Snaidero improved its defense, while O'Bannon, Wisniewski and Michele Antonutti each scored from downtown in a game-breaking 15-0 run which allowed the hosts to get a safe lead all the way until the final buzzer.

Besiktas opened the game with outstanding defense, as a big block by Ozer allowed Baris Ozcan to score in the other end. Andrew Wisniewski got Udine going with a three-pointer but Ozer scored inside to give Besiktas a 3-4 edge. Jacob Jaacks and a very active Ozer exchanged three-pointers but a layup by Michele Antonutti provided another lead change, 8-7. Larry O'Bannon fired in another triple for Snaidero, but Brooks Sales followed a close basket with a layup-plus-foul to give Besiktas a 11-12 edge. He scored again to cap a 0-7 run in which he had all points for the guests. Snaidero called timeout at 11-14 and Patrick Mutombo came off the bench to hit a jumper which Ozer erased with a put-back layup. Silvio Gigena rescued Snaidero with 5 points in a 7-0 run which allowed the hosts to get a 22-18 edge after 10 minutes. Ozcan shined with a three-pointer and a layup early in the second quarter, while Baris Guney nailed a jumper for a 24-25 Besiktas lead. Damon Williams stepped up with his first basket while Jaacks drew an offensive foul and scored in the other end to force a Besiktas timeout at 28-25. The guests struggled to score now, while O'Bannon hit a driving layup for a 30-25 Snaidero lead. Ozer shined with back-to-back layups and Ozcan scored again, but Wisniewski followed a big three-point play with free throws to keep his team ahead, 35-31. Djuro Ostojic found his first basket and Aubrey Reese hit one from downtown to bring Besiktas within 38-36 at halftime.

Ozer kept shining right after the break with a three-pointer and a big block on O'Bannon. Sales added a mid-range jumper to give Besiktas a 38-41 edge. Di Guiliomaria stepped up with a three-point play, igniting a 7-2 Snaidero run which Kristaps Valters capped with a layup to put the hosts back in front, 45-43. Sales hit free throws, as Besiktas had started to have troubles in the defensive board, allowing too many second-chance shots. Di Giuliomaria took over with a put-back dunk while Jaacks also slammed it for a 49-46 Snaidero lead. Besiktas went scoreless for more than 4 minutes and Snaidero made the most out of it. O'Bannon, Wisniewski and Antonutti each buried one from downtown to cap a game-breaking 15-0 run which allowed Udine to get a 60-46 margin. Free throws by Erkan Veyseloglu and a layup off a steal by Reese got Besiktas within 60-50 after three quarters. Besiktas needed a comeback and Ozer tried to ignit one with a three-pointer early in the final period. Valters answered from downtown while Jaacks erased Veyseloglu's layup with a put-back basket to keep Udine way ahead at 67-55. O'Bannon fired his third triple to make it a 15-point game, 70-55, midway through the fourth quarter. Sales followed a layup with a triple, but Jaacks and Wisniewski hit consecutive layups to seal the win, 74-60, with 4 minutes to go. Besiktas never recovered and Snaidero cruised to a well-deserved win.

Head Coaches

PANCOTTO, CESARE
Snaidero Udine
"I'm very happy for this victory because we didn't have a lot of time to prepare this game. Congratulations to my players for the defense in the last quarter and the three three-point shots that made the difference. This match rapresents one step forward for us and overall for Wisniewski that played a complete match as playmaker. This week began in a difficult way with the defeat against Avellino. With this victory we can prepare the next game against Biella for the Italian championship".
DIDIN, MURAT
Besiktas Istanbul
"We were without Jamel Thomas because he was injured. I hope that he can come back next Sunday when we'll play against Galatasaray in the Turkish championship. It isn't easy for us to win because we are very young. Away it isn't possible to win if only six or seven players play well. Tonight, the players from the bench didn't play well. Reese? He shot 5 of 17 from the court but he is a prospect player".

Players

JAACKS, JACOBS
Snaidero Udine
"We were very angry for the defeat against Avellino and so we wanted to win at all costs. I knew how to be in this period one important player for my team and I'm ready to take my responsibilities. When I play against my ex-teammates I want to play better than them. Tonight I tried to do this against Sales and I think that he played well but I did, too. Overall, my team won playing good basketball".
SALES, BROOKS
Besiktas Istanbul
"I'm very happy that I can play in Italy after the last time I had played here three years ago. I have a good memory of Jacob Jaacks: we played together in Biella. Snaidero played very well but we did not. We must follow coach Didin's rules. If we do it, we can do well because I think that we are a good team".
