Neptunas Klaipeda collected its second straight victory in the Eurocup to tighten things in Group H, upsetting Besiktas Integral Forex Istanbul on the road 74-83. Martynas Mazeika led Neptunas with 17 points while Vytautas Sarakauskas added 13 points and Justas Sinica chipped in 12 points in helping Neptunas improve to 3-4 in the group. Besiktas saw its five-game winning streak snapped in dropping to 5-2. Sundiata Gaines paced Besiktas with 21 points while Chris Lofton scored 19 points and Colton Iverson hit for 14 points.

Lofton knocked down an early three-ball for a 4-2 lead. Mazeika scored in a 0-6 Neptunas answer and Mindaugas Girdziunas’s three-pointer had the guests ahead 7-15. Lofton responded with the next five points to make it a three-point game but Mazeika got it back to seven points for the guests, who led 16-21 after one quarter. Sinica’s triple increased the margin to 18-26. Iverson had two straight baskets – the second a three-point play – to bring it back to three points. Sarakauskas scored on two consecutive possessions – the second a triple – as Neptunas was up 25-33. Mehmet Sanli knocked down a three-ball and Iverson threw down a dunk as Besiktas trimmed it to 34-36. Klaipeda led 34-40 at intermission, and after the break Gaines scored for Besiktas, but Mazeika had five points in a 0-9 run to build a 15-point lead. A Sinica trey increased the margin to 40-56. The hosts closed it to a 10-point gap and trailed 48-59 after three quarters, but after Tomislav Ruzic opened the scoring in the fourth, Arvydas Eitutavicius pushed the lead to 50-62. Lofton and Marius Runkauskas swapped three-pointers and an Eitutavicius three-point play gave the guests a 56-72 lead. Two Iverson baskets and two triples from Lofton trimmed the deficit to 68-75 with 1:09 minutes to play. But Mazeika, Sinica and Girdziunas combined to go 8-for-8 from the free throw line down the stretch.
