Galatasaray Cafe Crown remained tied for the Group C lead after crushing Dutch side Hanzevast Capitals 101-67 at the Ayhan Sahenk Arena in Istanbul on Tuesday. Robert Hite scored 24 points and grabbed 5 steals to lead Galatasaray, which improved to 5-2, the same as Akasvayu Girona and Hemofarm Stada atop the group. The Capitals dropped to 1-6 and are seeing their slim chances of reaching the elimination rounds slip away. Galatasaray pulled away early, leading 24-12 after 10 minutes and 47-28 by halftime. The led grew to 31 in the third period and 45 in the fourth en route to a big win. Charles Gaines posted 15 point, new forward Cenk Akyol celebrated his first appearance for the team with 13 points, Chris Owens also scored 13, Huseyin Besok added 12 and Dee Brown scored 7 points and dished 8 assists. Rogier Jansen scored 12, Pavel Englicky 11 and Kevin Melson finished with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 5 steals in defeat.

The Capitals challenged in the first five minutes of the game and tied the score at 8-8. Despite having center Besok sent to the bench early in the game due to foul problems, Galatasaray got production out of the young Cemal Nalga, while Brown and Hite led the hosts on a 16-4 run in the last five minutes of this period to lead it 24-12 after 10 minutes. Hite kept on scoring also in the second quarter and Cenk Akyol paired with him behind the arc to increase the lead to 31-12. Hanzevast’s zone pressure worked well, while Guido Grunheid’s basket made it 33-16 a minute later. Galatasaray remained in control and closed out the first half ahead 47-28. Galatasaray used a 12-0 start to the second half with Owens, Hite and Besok partying to take a 31-point lead. Hanzevast struggled to score against the hosts’ tough defense as Galatasaray kept the lead on 31 at the end of the third quarter. Galatasaray forced the opponent to make mistakes in zone defense in the last period and had a 45-point lead (89-44) on the way to one of the most comfortable wins of the season with a 101-67 final score.

"It was a good win for us. Our next game in Belgium against Spirou Charleroi is an important one. I have been informed that Akasvayu Girona has lost against Hemofarm Stada. Now we have a good chance to finish the group either as the leader or at the third position. Every single point will be important for the classification from now on. It's good to have Cenk Akyol in our rotation at forward position. We have to keep on playing tough like this all in the rest of the games. I congratulate all my players for their great performance."
CLAROS, PEP
Hanzevast Capitals
"We have tried to control the game and also tried to compete during the first six minutes. After that period of time we have lost control of the game. We weren't able to play aggressively on defense and Galatasaray took control of the game. There is nothing to talk about on the rest of the game because we couldn't challange against a strong opponent like Galatasaray."

"We have won a game which was very important for the classification in our group. We have got an important advantage in the group but we still have plenty of games to play. We have to be serious like the way we are since than the beginning of the sesaon."
